Data Relics
Data Relics Data Relics is a project about data and collective memories that started from a simple question: With all the quantity of data available do we have access to unbiased information. In this project I researched the notion of Dataism (a new form of religion, in which “information flow” is the “supreme value” ) and created relics of this religion in the form of sculptures generated by data. By downloading thousands of images of specific monuments posted on social networks over years and with 3d printing I recreated some of these monuments. For this installation I created 3 sculptures based on core human-values: Liberty, Faith, Family. Within this project I interrogate data as a 21st century artistic medium but also its impact on us and the future, what is going to stay as collective memories and how do we insure not losing important information in the mass that is being uploaded and stored everyday around the world.
